The FDA-approved Lumenis Piqo4® uses a combination of nano and pico second energy to create an intense photochemical effect that shatters the target ink into tiny particles, which are then naturally removed by the body. By using 4 different wavelengths, it provides up to 10 times greater energy than traditional tattoo removal lasers.
The tattoo removal process typically takes 8-10 sessions, 8 weeks apart. The removal process can be done on any part of the body. The farther away the tattoo is from the heart, the more difficult the removal process can be. Black tattoos using amateur ink and technique are usually the easiest to remove. The process can be “spicy” but can be done in a matter of seconds to minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.
